Knitters/ seamstresses - please help! How do I keep sweater cuffs from further ravelling?

I have a favorite wool sweater that I am not ready to give up.

However one of the cuffs is losing its finished edge and looks like it could start ravelling. It’s just a regular ribbed cuff all in one color. The knit isn’t bulky - probably slightly larger than the knit of a nice cashmere sweater - each “V” of the knit is about 2mm wide.

What are my options to save this sweater? Should I have the ends of the cuffs serged? I don’t love this idea cause it wouldn’t be so pretty. I thought about getting a pretty ribbon - maybe velvet, and having it sewn around the end of the cuff, but would that keep it from ravelling right through? What other options are there?
