A Career As A Travel Nurse

January 8th, 2010

Travel nurses are healthcare professionals such as registered nurses or therapists who travel to various locations to work for certain portions of the year. They usually work up to four travel jobs per year. A travel nurse can work in any region in the United States and many International regions. Most nurses secure a travel nursing career through a reputable travel staffing agency.

A career as a travel nurse can be personally and financially rewarding. Most people who have experienced life as a travel nurse say it is an exciting profession and a great way to earn a living. A travel nurse will enjoy living in new and exciting locations, reside in wonderful accommodations, and work in excellent hospitals. Other benefits include:

Travel Assistance: Most reputable travel nurse agencies will arrange such travel details as directions and maps. They should also have a 24-hour emergency hotline.

Great Pay: While on assignment, travel nurses are offered comprehensive packages consisting of excellent pay with many benefits and bonuses. Annual earnings for an RN travel nursing jobs can be as high as $110,000.

Travel nurses can also receive supplemental insurance that provides income if they are unable to work as a result of a non-work-related illness. As well, professional liability insurance should be offered at no extra cost.

Work Protection Plan: A work protection program should be offered by a reputable travel nursing agency because it ensures that if a shift is cancelled, you will still be paid.

Travel Expenses Reimbursement: Most travel nursing agencies will provide travel allowance to nurses. Travel allowance may be given before you depart or as a reimbursement after you arrive.

Tax Advantage Plans: Tax laws allow full-time travel nurses to receive non-taxable credit for meals.

Licensure Reimbursement: Travel nurse agencies will reimburse nurses for their State Nursing Licensure fees for every travel assignment. They will also help travel nurses acquire a State Nursing License.

Auto Club Membership: Many travel nurse agencies offer a discount or free membership to an auto club. Travel nurses will have access to roadside assistance, hotel discounts, rental cars, free trip routing with detailed directions and maps, emergency check cashing, and no fee travelers checks.

401(k) Plan: Travel nurses can enroll in a retirement 401(k) plan where a portion of their earnings will go into a retirement savings plan.

The Benefits of Using an Online Travel Agency

January 2nd, 2010
Suzanne Bradley asked:

Most people who go on vacation like to book trips through a travel agent in order to take some of the stress out of the planning process. Travel agents can also help you save money on flight, hotel rooms, cruises, and more; but what about online travel agencies? While people worry that Internet travel agencies could scam you or provide low-quality service, there are actually a number of benefits to choosing an online travel agency, providing that you pick the right one.

First and foremost, with an online travel agency, you can work with the place that has the lowest prices without geography limits. In other words, you have more options! When you opt to choose a travel agency in an offline setting, you are limited to the handful of companies that operate in your neighborhood, or at least within a reasonable distance. People who live in major cities might especially be affected by the high prices of brick and mortar travel agencies. Online, there are not proximity limits. The travel agency with which you work might actually have headquarters thousands of miles away, but if they have the lowest prices, you can still work with them over the Internet.

The increased number of choices does not just help you save money. It also means that you have limitless possibilities when it comes to travel. The travel agencies in your areas probably can book dozens or even hundreds of different trips, but there will be limitations. Even if an offline travel agent can plan a vacation to an obscure destination for you, it is not likely that he or she will be an expert in travel to this location. Online, you can find a family or an individual who has been there and will plan an amazing vacation for you. There are few places in the world where you can’t travel if you work with an online travel agency.

Another great aspect of working with an online travel agency is that you can shop for your vacation package any time of the day or night. Brick and mortar business usually close soon after the end of the regular business day, and many are not open for long hours on the weekend. The Internet is open 24 hours a day. While you may not always be able to call a customer service representative, especially if you like to do vacation planning at three in the morning, you can always check out packages offer on travel websites. This is especially handy for parents who need to plan after the kids are in bed, people who work odd hours, and those living in rural locations where the nearest travel agency office is a fairly far drive.

One of the often-overlooked benefits of an online travel agency is the control you have to make your own choices without outside influences or pressure. When you visit an office, many travel agents have the same tone as used car salesmen. You have to remember that these people are often working under some kind of commission program. Instead of making an hourly wage, they earn a percentage of your total vacation price, and even if they do have a salaried job, they may get incentives from travel companies (hotels, cruise lines, etc) for selling amount every month. Many travel agents get to go on free trips for every ten or twenty vacation packages they sell. So, you might feel pressured to book a trip when you are not done exploring your options or upgrade certain aspects, even though you do not have the money. Online travel agencies typically take a more hands-off approach. That does not mean that they won’t help you, of course. Most are more than willing to answer questions via email or over the phone. However, when it comes to working with an online travel agency, you do not have someone looming over your shoulder, trying to make a sale as you check out your vacation options.

Also, when you work with an online travel agency, you usually have more payment choices. Today, some offline travel agencies offer payment plans, credit card payments, and so forth, but this is not always the case. When you work online to plan you vacation, however, you can always find a type payment that will work for you. Some even have payment programs that allow you to earn points for every dollar you spend, which can go towards gift certificates or future trips.

Be aware that there are still scammers posing as online travel agencies and other travel sites, and you always need to read the fine print of any website where you make a purchase. However, online travel agencies are often a less expensive, easier, and more convenient way to book a vacation.

HelP Me?

January 1st, 2010
Mr. Selick asked:

On page 5 of Une Barque Sur l’ocean by Ravel, there is this measure where the left hand plays argeggios and the right hand plays something like a trill ( thirty-second notes). The rhythm is VERY incoherent at this point and Ravel simply switches from triplets to thirty second notes. it’s VERY confusing. Should I play the right hand like a trill, but keep it at a reasonable tempo or I should make sure it goes with the left hand? I AM DESPERATE. I can somehow keep the rhythm strict but it’s gonna take soooooo much time.

Do you know a good interpretation of?

December 30th, 2009
Mr. Selick asked:

Oiseaux Tristes by Ravel. I am looking for something not really personally interpreted. I want to check stuff and if the person’s take is too personal, I might get parts of it wrong, or at least my touch won’t be as original. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Rag Quilt Help Needed?

December 30th, 2009
nanofthesea asked:

I want to make a rag quilt in a really quick and easy way. I have thought about getting “layer cakes” which are precut cotton 10X10 squares. Since these would have a zigag type of edge, I am wondering how well the edges will ravel once clipped. I have made one heavy flannel rag quilt but my sewing machine needles cannot take the thickness ~ I broke 2 on my last project…. I am anxious to try out a cotton rag quilt with a flannel inside square for batting. Thoughts????

I am a new quilter & sewer, I am teaching myself so I am learning as I go. I do not know the gauge of needle ~ where do I get that info? The machine was a gift and it came with a pack of needles ~ when one broke I just replaced it with another.

I am really just wondering if you think a zig zag type of edge will ravel up. Lets say I find flannel precut squares and used that instead ~ when I clip the edges and wash & dry it so you think it would still ravel nicely?

Thanks!

beautiful disaster asked:

i started playing the piano when i was four years old. my friend angela was my biggest influence. i wanted to play the piano because she played the piano. my favorite composer is ravel. He is a french impressionistic composer. he lived from March 7, 1875 – December 28, 1937. the song on the cd is “ondine” by ravel. This song was about a water goddess seducing a mortal. I love listening and playing classical piano because it is very emotional and exciting. many people do not appreciate classical music but it is something worth listening to.
