    4)sulphuric acid + water reacts with cocaine to form cocaine sulphate which is water soluble (now its dissolved in water)

    5)collect the water and discard the gas

    6) sodium permanganate oxides other alkaloid products that are extracted along with cocaine + caustic soda raises the pH to form the free-base form form of cocaine which is less soluble in water so it precipitates out as a solid

    7) filter and youve got cocaine!

    heres what each step does chemically

    1)crush with sea salt and limestone (NaCl and CaCO3) - salt is mechanical abrasive and Calcium carbonate increases the solubility of cocaine in non-polar solvent (deprotonizes the basic amine group)

    2)gasoline acts as organic solvent to dissolve the cocaine in the non-polar phase

    3)filter to get rid of pulp
